Congratulations to Jurgen Koch, our Production & Art Director who, it seems, has been doing a little extra production work on the side which has resulted in the birth of his first child, Laura.
Jurgen and his partner Lucía, joked about the possibility of Laura arriving on the 29th February and as a result of all that providence tempting, Laura duly obliged.
The whole ‘birthday once every 4 years’ scenario has provoked some office discussion about whether leap year babies should celebrate their birthdays in non leap years on February 28th or on March 1st. Jurgen’s logic says that if Laura was born the day after February 28th then surely March 1st should be her birthday. Of course, that would mean that once every 4 years Laura would have to sit out her real birthday and wait until the following day to celebrate.
Laura of course will be blissfully unaware of this controversy for quite some time to come but if she ever gets around to reading archive blogs from Daddy’s work, here’s my advice to you, Laura; go for February 28th every intervening year and insist on 2 birthdays every leap year. ¡Bienvenida al mundo!

1As proud grandfather I think the 2-birthdays-option is a brighy idea.
